2009 SL550 hydraulic oil leak
retractable hard top leaking over the right side window when top is activated has worked fine since I owned it just started has it been leaking the whole time and I just didn't notice it until the levels got lower?

The seals will fail. That probably just started. Here is a link to fix the issue:

buy a rebuilt one from top hydraulics. you're going to waste a bunch of time and money trying to do it yourself compared to the $65 a rebuilt front latch costs (the most common failure)

The cylinder can be removed and replaced in about 2 hours time if its hydraulic lines are cut. If you are going to pay to have this repaired, I'd find a shop that is willing to proceed in that manner and who will use Top Hydraulics to rebuild the cylinder. The cut lines can be restored using "couplers" from Cabriolet Hydraulics. Cost of this repair method would be c. $500.
