Voice Recognition Decode, or No Decode?
Hi there everyone. As background, I have a 2007 SL55 AMG with stock COMAND system and Bose speakers, with OEM Voice Recognition. I have read most every post on here related to installing aftermarket head units and stereo upgrades, and have come across the advice/warning several times that when removing the COMAND unit, you must first "decode the voice recognition" at the dealership, in order that the replacement HU install goes smoothly afterwards (although no details or explanation why is given).
I am asking now: Is this true? What is the reason?
I asked my local MB service advisor and he had never heard of this. SO now I am itching to get to stripping out my COMAND HU, CD changer, DVD Nav unit and installing my Pioneer Z120BT using an OPTI-1 interface.
Any comments/advice on this? Any reason my plan should not work?
