Both have same 0-60 time of roughly 4 seconds.
R231 SL550 advantage - better tech, lightweight aluminum, $45k (msrp $120k)
R230 SL55 advantage- better looks, cheaper... $25k (original 2008 msrp $160k!)

Does the R230 AMG feel heavier than R231 base? What's the highest mileage you would avoid? Most of these $25k cars have close to 100k mi.

231 is the better car but not better looking. Get an ECU tune on the 231 and it will come alive.
