picking up my SL350 tomorrow :-)

In the UK just sold a C7 vette very rare in UK and getting a 2013 SL350 seems a bargain at £31k with only 11000 miles would have been £80k new with extras...
a red one with light grey interior , before the C7 I had a few 911's and an old V8 Vantage , I hope I do not miss the performance to much ..... But I am genuinely excited at the prospect :-) picking up from a Merc Dealer so 12 months warranty as well .

I called to say i was driving 2 hours to view the car and when I got to the dealer there was a couple turn up also wanting the car and waited 1.5 hours I had a drive and really liked it but did not want to be pressured so , I walked away and had some lunch then went back the other couple had been on a test drive and were negotiating hard for a small discount .. £500 lol which gave me my chance .as they asked to view the car again , I was signing the papers and bought it ! I smiled at them as I walked out , the chap look gutted I think he realised what had just happened ......it was already a very good price 2nd lowest i could find in the UK and it was the colour and spec I wanted and from a Mercedes dealer ..

Wish me luck I will let you know how it goes and my first thoughts after a proper drive

Carl

Post pictures when available. I can envision you now cruising down some quiet back country roads taking turns at break neck speeds with the top down!

I traded a C7 on my SL400 and don't really miss the performance. What I have noticed is that when I drove the Vette I always got waves and thumbs up. When I drive the SL I go completely unnoticed. No big deal though.

Must be the area where you live. Here in the Houston, Texas area I commonly see Vettes everyday to the point they are common. SL's about 2-3 per month. I see more Vettes in bright colors and SL's in black or silver which blend in more with most other traffic. Might be the reason your Vette got more attention.

I must say that my C7 was a strikingly good look'n car.

I have a sign business so I made mine into a Crazy Taxi for a few weeks to promote my company , it was a genuinely thrilling car to drive and looked great to be honest I sold it to free up £20k as I want another classic car and thought what can I buy for £30k that has that make you feel special quality and the SL does that :-) I will not miss the C7 though in truth only 2 cars I had I miss my Aston and a 1971 280SL pagoda I really loved that car ..,....

I can't believe you've bought the baby of the range

There's no substitute for Horsepower & Torque

You're going to be very disappointed, and wish you had bought the bigger engined car

If you think the 350 is going to satisfy you - you must be dreaming

On that positive note ?? (Cheers for that ) I could of had a 500 but I found the 350 to handle a bit better and most of my drives are on sweeping bumpy country roads , I just wanted a bit of a change some luxury comfort class but still with decent pace ... the 500 or AMG would have been a bit faster but 5.8 secs is hardly a tractor lol plus the penalties were harsh in UK for V8 ones , another £1500 in petrol £500+ road tax and the larger engine cars are depreciating in free fall .. the V6 cars depreciation is leveling out and most U.K. Reviewers favoring the V6 on our roads ... if i really don't like the engine I will wait till next year and get a 400 with a remap I totally agree in the States I would have the V8 but hard to justify in England which is why there are so many more V6 SLs than V8's

It's nice to see a surge in new SL owners from the UK. Welcome!

I am completely envious of some of the country roads in the UK. We spent about 6 months on business in Wilmslow, Cheshire and had a fantastic time, except that the roads were not the best for a large sedan. The SL would have been perfect.

Maybe because they're offering such discounts on them in the UK
Keith(Wiz) picked his up the exact same as mine with the similar great discount

Wilmslows about 14 miles South of Manchester

I live about 14 miles to the west of M'cr.............. just been out cycling, and we have some nice roads going out towards Warrington, Lymm and on towards Wilmslow

There are some great roads here :-) loving it so far actually feels a bit quicker than I expected ! Corners nice and flat and soaks up the bumps on a spirited drive better than anything I have driven that is rapid ! You lose ultimate steering feedback but the comfort luxury and refinement is awesome !

Sold 06 CLS500. SL550 09. SL550 2013. Own C6 Corvette heavily customized garage queen 2005.
Red Car congrats roocarl

Can't believe I am saying this but the red car with the lighter interior on the dash is really good looking.

I only drive white cars on the MB's mainly because I like white but really because I hate black dashboards and the combos offered here in the States not only with poor color selection but limited dash selection.

Great looking car..wish you many years of happy driving....also wish someone would reply to me regarding the extended warranty of a previous post of mine....MB naturally are offering their rates but I found one nearly 1K cheaper but have very limited knowledge of how this works, so apologize for hijacking this thread with another post, but if you don't answer me I have to resort to other measures somehow
just needed someone with warranty knowledge to check out the two plans I included to see if they were Kosher???

RooCarl..............

you just need some 10mm front and 20mm rear spacers to complete the look..........

See my thread/post in this section about spacers

Otherwise........... looks GREAT!!

The Euro headlights on the early R231 look much better than the US versions. Congrats and enjoy in good health!

Discounts like yours are unheard of in the US. Lucky guys!

Thank you

I have made a few posts on here since Sue bought her SL about 6 weeks ago

The 10/20 Spacers really help fill the arches out with no downsides - about £125 for spacers and bolts and lock bolts(i'll pass you the details if you want?)

I also bought a Smarttop yesterday

Wiz(Keith) tipped me off about him - seller "design911-porsche-parts" on ebay in the UK. We paid £245 for the Module - most places are wanting nearly £400 for them. I bought it Thursday dinnertime and by 2pm he had sent the DHL tracking for delivery today(Friday)

CKS have some nice bits listed on their site - but man are they expensive!!! £2k for carbon interior trim kit!

PS - the car looks great!

Thanks , if you can send me details on spacers please ? Just considering options at mo , I really like the look of 20s but I don't want to bugger up the ride ! What is a Smart top ? ...remote roof operation ?

I have PM'd you the details

Yes, the Smart Top is the module you can fit to operate the hood with one touch upto 40mph or with 3 taps on your key fob when you approach/leave the car and a few other options
They have a good video on their page that shows what it does
