I took my 2013 SL550 through an automatic carwash, not a touchless one, and after the wash I noticed some water had soaked about a 1" x 12" area. I felt the underside trim below the glove box and that seems to be where it came from. This is the first time that this has happened as I have had washed the car before, but this is the first time at this particular carwash. When I run the heater nothing leaks so its not the heater core. Any thoughts?

I had the same problem a few years ago with a "touchless" car wash, in my then brand new E550 Cabriolet. It turned out that it wasn't the spray of water from the car wash nozzles that caused the water infiltration, but the high speed air, that was used to blow dry the car. Since then, I only use car washes which don't use the high speed air, and have not experienced any water making it into the interior of the car. My new SL450 is on order, so I plan to continue with that technique.

The water should not be coming inside the car, high pressure air dry or not. I run my all my cars through a hand wash that uses high pressure air blowers and have never had a problem. These cars are engineered to withstand blizzards, very strong winds & torrential rains in all parts of the world. I would have the dealer check it out, as there is obviously a leak.

Agreed that water should not be getting in at that location. Very strange. Will take in to see what the dealer finds.

The water drains on many MB models can become clogged with debris. It is known.

I drilled two big extra holes in mine so I never have to worry about flooding my car.
