2014 sl550 tires

I am sure this has been talked about many times but I can't seem to find an answer in the search function.
Need new tires for my 2014 R231 with 19 inch wheels and standard spring suspension and do not want run flats.
They don't seem to make the Pilot SS in the correct sizes so that is out, what are the majority of people using and would recommend?

Thanks.

Re tires.

I have found the Bridgestone Potenza SO-4 Pole Position to be one of the best for an all round tire. Check it out and you will be impressed with its specs. This is what I run on my 231 with the 19 inch wheels and standard suspension. I recommend you carry a compressor and large bottle of "fix a flat" in your trunk. It could come in handy.

Only MBs - the best or nothing
An other choice is Continental's DW (not to be confused with DWS) tires. These are excellent all around tires (with a special emphasis on ride quality), one of the lightest tires in our sizes and are on significant sale at The Tire Rack (probably due to be replaced by a newer version soon, just like original DWS were).

I also find that Tire Rack is a great web resource for tires. They not only do their own testing of tires, but also post a good number of user comments / ratings. Don't buy many tires from them, but the information supplied there is quite useable.

I just stepped over here from the R230 forum ... thinking about getting one. Reading up on R231 gripes and *****es.

Anyhow ... when I needed new tires for my R230 a few months ago, I called a local dealer--MB Collierville, TN--to arrange to have Tire Rack deliver the tires (Michelins) to the dealership for installation and wheel alignment. The parts dep't rep with whom I talked told me that the shop charged $10 per tire over wholesale cost for a set of new tires, plus a minimal fee for installation (with new stems) and balancing. The dealership got my business on that set of tires: Michelin Sport AS3 Sport+. Most satisfied. For what it's worth.

As a follow up I went with the Bridgestone Potenza SO-4
So far I like them and they are much quieter than the worn continental run flats.
Also put a "slime spair in the trunk", this comes with a compressor and slime in the same box.

I took the run flat tires off my recently purchased 2013 SL550 with 18" wheels and replaced them with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ conventionals. Ride is much improved as is tire noise. I highly recommend these tires.
