I believe the seats are held by 6 bolts which might explain the problem.

I removed the passenger seat on my 1985 380Sl and I remember only 4 bolts. One sure thing, do not remove the bolt holding the spring underneath the seat. It is not necessary for the removal of the seat and a "B" to get back on. I still haven't try to reinstall it. Other than that, my seat lifted right out. Put the top down and make it easier. The seat may have a hook that you may have to slide it back a bit before lifting. The car is in the mechanic's shop now, but I will look when I get it back if your still having a problem.
