Engine Swap from 1977 450 SLC to 1980 450SL

Wondering if anyone has ever done this before. I have a 1980 SL in really good condition, but with an engine with 194k on it. I also have a 1977 SLC that looks like crap and is past the point of restoration, but has only 93k on the engine. I do understand that the SLC is a FWD vehicle, while the SL is rear wheel. I also understand that the SLC has a 3 speed Automatic Tranny while the SL has a 4 speed Tranny. The two engines are the same V8's that Mercedes made for all of their 107 classes back then.

The question is, can this be done? As I am not swapping anything other than the engine, I would think that everything else should fall into place and snap back together, the 4 speed should easily mount to the 77 V8, right? I am pretty sure the mounts are in the same place in the two cars... Is there anything I am missing here?

Any and all input would be much appreciated!
