License plate light assembly removal

Hi,

I have a 1986 300 SL, and I tried to replace the license plate light assembly, i.e. the parts to which you attach the bulbs. It is inside a chrome-plated cover, a boot trim tab, and I have not managed to remove this. (see the picture)

It is attached to bodywork by several nuts, and even if I remove all the nuts it does not move. Maybe the rubber/plastic seal between the bodywork and the boot trim tab is glued itself due to aging.

Any ideas how I should proceed in order not to break it or scratch anything?

Petri

Problem solved. It was just some glue/sealant that kept it attached. Have a great year 2014!
