What did I buy now...

Well the answer is I bought an 81 380sl and the jury is still out. It had water in the car... probably an inch or two in the passenger compartment. The computer on the passenger side didn't get touched. The car runs and the body looks great. Rust minor on the floor panels and the rocker panels are rotted near where i guess there was a drain? No idea is it is single or dual timing chain and no idea about what happened to it. Does look like it received a lot of love early on but not much in the last 5 years or so.

The car starts fine but when you give it just a little gas it doesn't want to rev up. It hestitates and bogs down. It's worse if you give more gas. You have to really slowly get the rpms up by just playing with the pedal. Still drives and can get up to speed. I have changed the fuel filter... now wondering it its the coil or spark plug wires (the plugs are new). Any thoughts on what do next? I added some fuel and Techron cleaner. haven't run it much to see if that helps.

All and all I'm hoping I have a winner here. Cost me $1800. What does everyone think?

Much appreciated.

Tom

Ok had a chance to run the car a bit tonight. Starts up idles good but hitting the gas it craps out, bogs down but it won't stall. If you work your foot gentle you can get it to rev up though. Does anyone have any suggestions? I did the fuel filter, added cleaner. Maybe an injector problem? Ignition maybe? What typically ails a 380 w these symptoms?

Thanks,
Tom
