Warning Lights

Took the '89 560SL in to replace plugs and valve cover gaskets. Used reliable indie. Two days later all of the warning lights,, i.e. low fuel, battery, etc but not check engine lights stay on after car starts. Car seems to run OK, Battery is 3 years old, seems OK. Would appreciate any suggestions. Car has 54K miles. Has been a great car. Thanks.

560SL Warning lights all on

I am having a similar problem. All warning lights lit when ignition in on/run position. Just finished changing the steering lock and tumbler with new parts which meant the instrument cluster had to come out. Have checked for loose or unconnected wires in the cluster and all appears to be correct. The car started and ran fine immediately after the lock installation warning lights behaving as they should. Next day the car cranks strong but wont fire. All warning lights lit in run position.

Regarding the warning lights all being lit, I had read somewhere that this can indicate that the alternator is not charging or the battery is failing? could a bad ground cause this condition?

Getting spark but no fuel. Checking the fuel pumps next.

Bad ground could cause the fuel pumps to loose power? cause the warning lights to stay lit indicating no or low charge?

Independent repair shop had replaced the alternator belt when the car was taken in for service. Belt was improperly installed and self destructed. Belt was replaced. That fixed the warning light problem. Alternator was bad but it was not working. Your reseach re possible case being bad alternaor, etgc was correct. Hope you get your problem (s) resolved. Thanks for your response.

Sorry, meant to say: alternator was not bad but it was not working/charging.

Thanks for verifying. Hope to get time this weekend to test the alternator output. Also going to check grounds at the coil as I think this may affect the charging output. Glad yours was sorted out.
