SL/R107: 1981 560sl......help

1981 560sl......help
I'm looking to buy what is badged as a 560 sl, the title says 560sl....but it also says it's a 1981. Now I know that the 560 sl didn't happen till 86. The 3rd brake light is consistent with a 86 87 model. What gives?? It also has factory wire wheels which I can't figure out

The title just may reflect the best information that the DMV had at the time. They are not know for attention to detail. Take the VIN number to a local MB dealer or just call one. They can tell you what it is from the VIN. Sounds like someone trying to turn a 380SL into a 560.
