newbie,noise in reverse
I just got a 1988 560sl and when I put it in reverse it makes a noise coming from the engine compartmentnot the trans or rear end
sounds like fan shround might be getting hit.when would this happen only when I put it in reverse.Thanks Jimbo

Out Of Control!!
Instead of all the HS responses----why not simply put the car on a lift, put the car in R run the car and have the girlfriend point to the area of the car making the noise and post a picture of her doing so!!

I have assumed that most if not all on this forum do not own a lift---what I was suggesting is that you find a lift---they are easy to find and usually at places that repair automobiles,however in your case I would screw the lift search and concentrate on finding a girlfriend. Then look for a lift!!
