Fuel Pump Control Relay
Gentlemen,
This is a well known problem of "Unexpected Engine Shutdown". Interestingly I have had the relay subject to microscopic detailed operation outside of the vehicles environment only to find that the relay itself is exactly as the manufacturers specifications, no deterioration with operations normal.
Has anyone any experience with this problem over temperature ranges. For example. My shutdowns occur during low speed high ambient temperatures 95F.
Once cruising 65 mph we had no shutdown for the three hours cruise.
Is anyone familiar with the current draw of the dual fuel pumps under normal conditions. I am beginning to believe current surge by the "dual" pumps especially when hot (no airflow) is causing the pump relay to go protected and open contact. I have heard of people bypassing the relay !!...comments ??
I am now looking at pumps with normal pressure BUT at a lower draw...comments ???...Steve
