AC Compressor issue

Any experience with AC compressors? 87 560SL with 13k miles. A/C likely rarely used. Thoughts?

I know it's the holiday season, however you question does not make any sense---put the bottle down and rephrase the question!!

Sorry, I should have been clearer. I purchased a 13k mile 560SL and the AC does not work. It has been recharged and checked for leaks and it appears the AC compressor is not working. Given the mileage, it is unlikely it is worn out. Curious as to whether anyone else has had similar problems and if there is anything to check before the compressor is replaced.

The on off of the compressor is controlled my the AC control unit---have you adjusted the control unit to enable the compressor.

Check the fuse chart on the fuse block cover. Also if the fuses are silver corrosion of dissimilar metals is common. Clean the contacts. Better to replace them all with brass/copper fuses.

There is also an A/C compressor control unit located behind the glove box. http://www.benzworld.org/forums/r-c1...ml#post3616901

Thank you for the information. I'll check both the fuses and the thread on the control unit and let you know how it turns out.

Checking for update. I'm about to take my '87 560SL in for a new compressor and drier to convert to R134. My compressor is definitely shot....but I am curious how your situation turned out. Thx.
