Full paint correction on my SL600 - PICS
After numerous car washes and what appears to be an attempt at a detail by the previous owner, I had to hand my keys over to DJ Mayo and Reflections-Detailing in Northern Virginia.
Although, the car didn't look horrible, once he stripped all of the wax and who knows what else was on there, the condition of the paint was worse than either of us thought. The ceramic clear coats on these cars are particularly tricky, but luckily DJ has the experience and was up to the task.
Since it was so overcast this week and literally 21* with 40 mph winds, he didn't take many outdoor shots. We had negative degree wind chills, so I don't blame him. But here are some action shots and one 50/50 shot.
If you look at the last picture, that really shows the type of work he does. The entire car looks exactly like that. It's such a dramatic difference from when the car was dropped off. All in all, he spent right around 20 hours on this car.
It's covered up and connected to a trickle charger until the weather clears up. I'll take a few outside sun shots when I pull her back out of hibernation. It's so hard to get good indoor shots, so these aren't the best, but the two outdoor shots really show what he was able to do with my car. Simply amazing.
Only hood and top of fender done!
All you really need to know is right here. The entire car looks like this now. Just simply amazing.

It was 100 miles from my house. There's just not that many people around that can do this type of work. It was well worth the trip, in my opinion.

I know, I know...
It's been so damn cold here that I haven't had a chance to put them on yet.
Too bad he couldn't get more outside shots. The entire car looks like this. Such a difference....
I'm trying to setup a shoot with a local shutterbug here for some proper outside shots....

indeed a fine job Clay (BOR)...I'm just wondering if the same kinda results, or shall I say the same drastic improvement can be had on my car which is diamond silver metallic vs. BOR's black car. Light cars especially silver look fantastic with just a wash, Klasse AIO (or Bekkers), and sealant and/or pinnacle wax overlay. No scratches or big swirl marks...
just seems like a lot with the driving and turnaround time & cost etc.. seems worth it on a dark color car though. Maybe before a big show like StarFest 2010 or Something it'd be a good thing to do...I'm wondering for a light color car...if you had some good polishes and products and a PC if that wouldn't be just as well to do a good DIY and leave it to the pros for the special occasions

DJ welcome to the forums...glad to have you here. You will find many enthusiasts that respect the caliber of your work and the importance of a clean car is a paramount concern for many in the MB community!
Looking forward to working with you and our I appreciate our conversation. Certainly with the depth of shine showed on Clay/BOR's car we can see that taking care of the car pays back tremendously in enjoying it as well.

Anyone recommend someone in the Raleigh/Durham NC area to do this? I have friends in the DC area (I used to live there) so it may be a good excuse to get up there this spring/summer and drop the car off and spend a few days in DC... But would like to know someone in this area as well if possible...
What a beautiful work of art that is! Nothing is prettier (IMO) than a clean black car!

I'm looking for someone in the Toledo, Ohio or Ann Arbor, Michigan area to do my car. Any help? What a great job this was. Almost worth driving south to get it done. Wonder how long it would take?
