has anyone put a bike rack on the trunk of their SL with success? any recommendations? ive seen some good products from Saris.com but i wanted to see if there's anything i should worry about... thanks for your help!

ha yes i most certainly agree, but i bought my car to drive, not as a trophy... so i need it in some instances for practical purposes.. hence why im asking!

if u want practical, dont buy a SL...buy SUV or others..

I would be a bit concerned about the rather complex and finicky drop top mechanism especially given the fact that the front edge of the trunk lid rotates 90 degrees toward the back of the car in the process. I'm not so sure you would want to mess with the delicate balance of the whole system unless you just don't plan on dropping the top anymore.

I have come across this for the Mercedes R230, as advertised in Germany, but cannot get name of manufacturer.

It is possibly made by either Westfalia or Bosal.
