The 04 should work- the 03 is a different surround unit. All of them require new amp (speakers should be changed too).

I would be surprised if anyone developed one for the SL. We thought about it, test marketed it, and the demand is just not there to spend the major money to get it done.

The Dynavin Mercedes MOST units barely work at all... they are pretty much J U N K.

We can get Euro COMANDs from our Euro Sales Office. We are not big fans of HU replacement in North America. It is much more common in the rest of world... Where are you?

So, it turns ou that the company confirmed that e head unit only work with 2003 and 2004 ...for now, and will fiit the face of the surround of those years. Additionally, they confirmed that the CDC changer will not work and neither will the amp. Speakers have to be connected directly or use different amp. I have ordered it and will review install with pics for you guys. in a couple weeks. They have been very responsive and refunded $ via paypal in December when the units were backordered.

I already have an additional amp and was planning to replace speakers, are they planning to build one for 05s? If they made an interface that would make steering wheel controls work for bluetooth/volume/cluster display I would be happy with that and an aftermarket deck

I just received this radio. Own 2003 SL55 Bose system. This car has fiber optic D2B audio bus, and this radio only has standard RCA line level outputs. Lee says that I can hook it up to the speakers directly and bypass the Bose amplifier, but the internal amp is only 45w (not good for top-down cruising). By the low weight of this box I have to think 45w is peak and not RMS.

So their webpage states that you do not have to cut any wires, and that this is a direct plug-in replacement is not accurate.

I have asked for a refund (guess I'll have to eat the $68 each way shipping to Hong Kong), think I may go for the Denison gateway to add the peripherals I need, and keep full Bose amps and other factory functions of the COMAND unit.

Can you post a picture? I am thinking about ordering this and running aftermarket amp but I'm still unclear if this truly fits in the smaller 03-04 sized stereo opening or its its made for the 05+ widescreen dash opening. Thanks!

Okay - it physically fits the 03 and 04 SL55. What about the audio connections - it sounds like this is not a direct plug in replacement.

Knowing that what options are there ? nir says he's going to use a jl audio 4 way amp - is this possible? Any other solutions? Is the D2B audio bus (fiber system) only used to connect the factory Bose amp?

Well, my unit came in today. So I connected all the wiring to the back and will get installed probably this weekend. I will let you know how it goes. In the meantime, i will post some pics tomorrow. It came with a box that overrides the canbus.

If you have one installed, could you tell us how you set it up? (I would like to keep using the bose Amp and I'm wondering if it would work by buying an RCA > Fiber Optic Converter )

But our unit don't support fiber amplifier system. If your car has fiber
amplifier, you need to bypass the fiber amplifier and connect wires direct
to the speakers when you connect the cables. Then you can run the built-in
amplifier. Our unit have built-in amplifier.

It does... period. There is no SL without it. I would HIGHLY advise against that unit.

We were paid as a 3rd party to review these units and the 4 we have have now all failed in under a year. They are very cheap.
That adapter will not work at all, that is for toslink, not MOST.
Do a search an you find our reviews.

Okay then. I looked at your site and saw the Anystream and Stereostream products. The look perfect for my needs. Couple of questions as I need both - one for each of my cars.

1) Will the Anystream work with the Dension Gateway I have in my A6? From what I read I will still have the factory bluetooth phone controls and my phone will work as it does now - Is this correct? Can i use the factory controls to change tracks etc.?

2) I was ready to order one of each since you have a 30 day guarantee but why is the shipping so outrageous for such a small item?
$28.00 shipping for both items??? $18.54 for the Stereostream alone????

Granted I'm in CA but $28.00 ??

First off, if you call in - shipping is less because we can use Post Office (which is not an option in our store) - HOWEVER - we keep trying to use them off and on the last couple of months, and they do lose packages at a rate of about 10% lately!!!! We are about at the point to say sorry, we must pay UPS rates. But the decision has not come down yet. (as of Jan 31st 2012)

That is an actual UPS quote plus insurance, plus $1 handling. If you ship it to a business address, it is a lot less. UPS charges MUCH more for residential than business. Also, I know many of you are used to paying 4 or 6 dollars from places like Amazon, but they have HUGE multimillion contracts with carriers for low shipping. We don't get that as a small company. Even though the two together is only 1/2 a pound, the lowest billable rate as of today with UPS is 2 pounds.

You don't say what Dension you have - The Gateway Lite is NOT a certified Apple device, so it will not work with that - we have not tried it with a Gateway 500 (it is also not certified, but uses a different chipset than the lite - you have to try it and see).

If you prefer to wait, we are moving to a new shopping cart manager in the coming weeks that will give us more versatile shipping options. It will make a small difference because you will get to choose various methods and speeds, but not a ton - shipping and insurance is a not a cost we have much control over.
