SL55 AMG Transmission Anomaly?
Hello, new member needs help. My '08 SL55 'hiccups' in first gear at 3500 rpm in all modes (C, M, S). I'm told this is inherent with this model. Is anyone else with this model year, or any other model year, experiencing this problem? Thank you in advance for any help.

I am not familiar with this problem and don't recall ever reading about it. It almost sounds like when the supercharger engages, but that is normally at lower RPMs. Do you feel a slight hesitation followed by a big surge of power? You might try the sneaky reset just for kicks, it can't hurt anything although I don't think it is the problem. https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...set-works.html The tranny adapts shifts points and such based on your driving habits. The reset just clears it out. the car will re-adapt over time. A lot of guys like to clear it because they like the way the tranny shifts better after clearing it.

Thaks cal1. I appreciate your input. My dealer tells me that the reset is not the solution to this specific problem but they will do it for my satisfaction. Interestingly, I road tested the car with my service consultant. Under hard acceleration the engine does not 'hiccup' at 3500 rpm in any mode. It is only under light to moderate accleration that the interruption occurs. What's up with that?

In any case, I don't beleive hicups during gentle driving are normal operation mode for our gearbox.
Do you have a similar problem ?

Nope, I'm just pretty new to the forum so I'm reading everything I can about this car and the troubles that people have had with it. That way if I run into a similar issue I'll have an idea of what's potentially wrong.

If it hasn't been done, draining out your tranny fluid and replacing it is not a bad idea. I have heard a lot of people say not to do a pressurized flush per se, but instead just drain the old stuff and replace. I have also heard the tranny is really picky about the fluid level. You want to replace exactly what was taken out.
I am at about 98k miles, putting down about 540 torques (with mods) to the wheels and have yet to have a tranny problem. Fingers crossed of course.

Cool. Good to hear the tranny is tough. My tranny fluid was recently replaced so I'm good to go. Wow, almost 100K on a tranny and no issues? That's pretty awesome.

Our drive trains are pretty solid. It is all the damn acronyms like ABC, SBC, SRS, etc. that give us trouble.
