You guys really make me want to do mine asap....
However, I cannot believe the poor quality and workmanship of these kits. Given the base price associated with the kits and then the extra costs to get it correct will ultimately keep many from purchasing these. One would think as a vendor and manufacturer they would take a hard look at what they are doing and how they can do it better.
I work in the automotive field (wheel manf) and have for 20+ years and I can tell you that we continue to try to put out better products year after year. Lighter, stronger and as true as possible. Constantly asking what if? and why not? ...otherwise someone will sweep in and out perform and out produce you and the name brand you have built...then play catch-up for a period trying to do what you should have done to begin with and then good luck trying to get back consumer confidence.

Besides brabus and amg I haven't seen any kits fitting perfect...even my carlson front bumper on my w210 didn't fit well...any sorta fiberglass mix will do that I guess....looking to see updates on this build, gl

Prior design wide body project
Hello.
I have start also a Prior design wide body project.
https://mbworld.org/forums/sl-class-...y-project.html
Many have complain the fitment.... but at my Prior design project I must mention it's not so bad at al. Only problem I had so far was close the hood.
Now I have find a solution to fix that.

I stopped by the body shop today with Chris@C2Design to see progress of the build...
The whole body kit has been put on for test fitting and they were happy with it and they started to paint...the only thing not painted yet are the front bumper, rear bumper and roof.
The rest of the painted panels still need color sanding so if it looks less than glossy that is the reason. We have used this shop for all our builds so I am not worried about the end product. It'll be there probably about 3 more weeks...even though he told me 2 weeks it'll be done. He is an old school painter that tells time by sun dial but we take that into consideration because of the quality work he does.

Alex...no we didn't. We went with OE Mercedes Palladium Silver. The body kit was aggressive enough and our thinking was we wanted to upscale the build...going with the GT3RS grey would have gone more aggressive to me.
The metallic flake in the paint can't really be appreciated in the pics...in sunlight the car gets lighter and in the evening darker...
The job now is to make sure the wheel finish and caliper finish mesh with the exterior color and interior upholstery.
Having a wide body kit (this wasn't even the most aggressive from Prior) on the Mercedes can be a tricky thing...a fine line you have to walk. You cross that line and all you see is a cartoon and something that looks like an aftermarket kit.
If we do it right then it'll look like it was something that may have come from the factory or Designo studio...not sure if we can pull it off but it'll be fun trying.
I was emailing Chris@C2Design late last night just working through all the finishes (wheel, caliper, rear wing, etc...) and interior appointments (color of deviated stitching, etc...)...
We still want it to have the essence of the SL and not a caricature of it. Lots of details to work out but that is the fun part about this hobby.
