Major electric problem - what's happening?
Hi
I've had my SL55 for 6 months now, and I've experienced this four times. Two of the times is today and two days ago, so I'm getting worried..
All electronics seem to be ****ed up, windscreen wipers are wiping (until I turned off the "auto"), CD changer is changing CD's, all icons turning on and off, speedo + rev counter going to zero and up again.
After a minute or so, it stops. It also stops if I turn off the car and turn it on again. After turning it off, no malfunctions are stored.. Anyone else ever experienced this?
I've uploaded a video of the issue here: (it's better around 00.25 and forward)

Thanks for updating this thread, will help anyone trying to figure out this problem in the future!
Do you keep a battery tender or trickle charger of some sort on your SL?
Amazing how many problems a weak battery can cause in these cars. I wonder if it would be worthwhile to install a real voltmeter (vs reading it over obdii via scantool) somewhere unobtrusive or hidden, just to see what the voltage really is when wierd issues like this crop up

I never drive it throughout the winter, so during winter months, I do attach a battery charger to keep it fresh and in good conditions during the 5 months it's parked.

And here I am, Almost a year later, having the exact same problem. It does seem more frequent now, though, and doesn't stop just from turning car off and then on again like last year. I'm not really thinking replacing the battery is my key problem here? Might help, but again only for a short while? Worth testing I guess.. Any suggestions for my next move?

Will try to do a complete readout of errors etc this week, but last time I had this problems it showed only the errors that is also fysically visible (wipers going, ABC error, ESP error, CD changer error, airbag errors, light errors etc), nothing that was very helpful. I will look out for any errors related to the SAM module.
I'm not driving to the dealer to have it fixed since I really dont like my local arrogant one - maybe I should try that? Would they know more?
