I would think if an SL65 BS has coil overs then maybe there has to be something to it. I heard when u scan a bs thru star it shows an ABC error which gets ingored so nothing shows up on the dash of the car

I did talk to a guy here in France that offers coilover conversion for our SL55. He told me he is adding a module to the struts connections that let the ECU beleive that the ABC is still in place and in function. So no error codes.

As far as I know they provide a replacement but it's just for the PS.

I left today my SL55 at the workshop of Suspension-sport.com

I thought initially that my post did not interest many people, but the guy told me he suddenly received a dozen of request from everywhere around the world (US, middle east, australia ...) . That's a bit overwhelming for him and his small structure and totally unusual. Since he his not doing any advertising, it can only come from here !

So my car is in his workshop for a week for a simple reconditionning, but it would be great if the ones that ordered the conversion set could do a report afterwards ... I'm still interresred !

I did ask the question and it seems they recirculate the fluid in the pump with a derivation. I'm not a tech guy, so not entirely sure I got it completly right.

I have been reading about problems with ABC and I see a lot of S55/SL55. I don't see that many S63 complaining. Are these ABC problems more with "55" models or may be the S63 are still under warranty?

Has Mercedes upgraded the ABC system from 55 to 63? May be better pumps or better hoses and etc?

I am also interested to see any good info on conventions as well as any info on the facelift cars pertaining to any improvements made to the ABC. I have not heard of any issues from facelift cars but maybe they are just not at the age or mileage to have issues. Any comments?

It's really just a function of heat and time. They will all suffer the same fate. When I owned my 2003, the 2005 owners were saying that their suspensions were newer and MB had the problems fixed. I said the same thing over 8 years ago and you see that they are also having issues. No model year is impervious to the ABC failures.

The system is flawed in a huge way. There are better and more dependable systems on the market. Not really sure why MB hasn't ditched it yet. It's a matter of time until it is out of all the cars in my opinion.
