5 yr cost of ownership $125,000?

Edmunds.com has a 3 year old (2011) SL63 as costing about $125,000 to own and operate five years including about $10,000/yr in depreciation. I like the cars and was thinking about one, but there are so many better ways to spend money than this, like buying a house or investing in something which might actually provide a positive return instead of bleeding cash.

What's the real life experience been from owners here???

2011 SL63 can be from mid 60k to mid 80k but assuming were going for 80k + 30k of depreciation, but not sure what the maintenance cost is for SL63, but I would assume it's high, but that's why warranties are worth it on these cars.

Not for the faint of wallet ?

Having said that, I lost more than those $125,000 in the housing crash. Could have had more fun.

A friend of mine recently bought three multiplex properties for $108,000 which brings him $2,700/month in rent. With that income he could lease a 2014 SL63 for "free" and ride a long term appreciation wave on the real estate.

You do realize cars are not an investment, right?

Yeah I think that kind of buy/rent ratio isn't exactly every day.

In reality you might be forced to put a million in and can easily lose $200,000 if somebody crashes something (economy, earthquake etc).
