battery light
can anyone shed light on this problem?
I have removed both batteries and externally charged them and its still there. measured alternator output and its
14.5v with car off (across the battery under he hood/bonnet)
15.5v with the car ticking over
16.5v when you rev it

I had to replace the Starter Battery and followed the battery disconnect protocol.
You must disconnect the rear one, then the front one, wait 10 mins, then connect the front one, then the rear one and all should be just fine.
If the warning sill there you could have blown the inverter box but I think that you will be just fine.
Additionally, after re-installing the battery you would have to reset the power windows as well as the ESP.
To reset windows: ignition on, close the window and hold the switch for 4 seconds in the up mode.
To reset ESP : start the car and turn the wheel all the way to the left and then all the way to the right.

SL 55 and a GT 3000 vr4 Here's my car: http://home.online.no/~ludvs/index.cfm
I also had the batteries checked, but couldn't get it removed, even after I charged both batteries.
So i had to go to the dealer to get it erased.
Hope fledda's tips helps, it's expensive to go to the dealer...

I charged both batteries up externally and its still on, I think I just need it reset with stars. both off at once so car will of reset if possible. I have a independent who will do that for £60 about $100 ;o)
windows where fine, eps needed a reset
my alternator is still chucking out the voltages and charging the batteries as I had "consumer units offline" after it sat for 2 weeks then all was fine after 10 min of driving
