SL63 Front Conversion
Hi folks,
Interested in picking up an SL55 and am wonder if there are any New cost-effective ways to upgrade the front end to an SL63. I read a few threads that were a couple of years old and the cost stood at $20k
Has there been any dealers like Suvneer who provide this conversion at a low price
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

if your only doing the facelift and not the black series kit its not so bad anymore, maybe 3-4k in parts,
Only swaping the hood, front bumper, fenders, rear bumper and headlights, i think you can keep the side skirts

Does anyone have a parts listing for the 63 front conversion? Anything additional needed besides the bumper, fenders, headlights, hood and wiring plug for headlights? Hoping to start looking for the parts on eBay. Thanks all!

That seems about right, optional items include rear upgrade as well and 2012 Rear exhaust tips.
Best decision your gonna make, 2nd to the one you made to buy an r230!
Good luck, keep us posted

I am in the process of buying an SL55 and the conversion has been on my mind. I also have been doing research and it would be nice if there was one thread for every question and source of parts for the conversion.
Here is a company I found on ebay that sells their version of the facelift and it looks pretty good. I hope somebody would chime in and see if what they offer is worth the price: http://www.ebay.com/itm/MERCEDES-SL-R230-63-6-3-AMG-BODY-KIT-/321366870589?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item4ad2f54a3d
Here is the link for the headlight conversion harness: http://www.kabeldaviko.de/product_in...kabelsatz.html

I thought the same, buyer beware. Buy domestic, less chance of "issue", if your car is a factory AMG, you don't need side skirts.
Also a lot of mfgs make the BS, not just the facelift. I used sarona, and I am happy. They let you pick and choose to customize your look. I opted for a BS hood with a full front and back upgrade and if I ever do BS, my hood won't need replacing.

Thanks SL65_Rockford. The company being overseas would concern me too. I read your thread a while back did you use the harness for the headlight conversion? If so does it help and what would be your suggestion be for the headlights?

Buyer Beware, when I was researching on my own, I never ran across anyone that used that over seas mfg...
As to the harness, I and a few others do not use it. If you have the schematics sheet, which someone was kind enough to share with me; I re-posted. Give that to a mechanic and they can do it in less than 1 hr

Thanks Rockford and taleb for the very useful information. My preference is to go with a used OEM bumper (more durable material?) and after market fenders and hood. Once all parts are sourced will they bolt on without needing to the need to remount other parts (ie will the headlight bolts mount in the same locations)?

As far as headlights, eBay is best and buy used. MB charges 2100 for each, and used on ebay 500-700 each. Then you need the ballast to be changed as well. Your old ballast will not work.. a used c-class ballast is same as the the r231 ballasts

Thanks again rockford.
Do you or anyone have a part number for the SL63 OEM Front bumper? I'm searching online and getting a few different numbers and some are showing up as SL550 AMG bumpers. Are they the same?? I'd imagine not..

Here's a quick parts list I've compiled. If anyone can chime in to see if there is anything additional I'm missing that'd be great. Looks like you can go used oem with the exception of the hood (couldn't find a used hood), you're looking at around $4,500 which is pretty fair IMO.
