2007 SL55 front roters..do I still have to pay $900 each for them?

I know this has been covered before but things may have changed. From what I gather, I can get them from Zimmerman but they are ugly as hell due to a grey material they apply to stop rust.

Buybrakes.com has them from Speed Attack High Carbon and I find no info on them on the net. They also have Stoptech which is supposed to be a high performance Centric. I'm not finding much there either. Both of them are under $175 each

Listed here http://www.buybrakes.com/2007-merced...mg-brakes.aspx

Any input on these brands or ideas on others?

As a side note, I don't know if I need drilled/slotted or just drilled. I don't race the car but do drive quickly at times. I don't know if slotted will be noisier or not.

For those that may not be aware, I can't use the rotors that came on the 2006 and earlier SL55.

If you find any two piece rotors at a decent price please let us know. I've never seen any.

I purchased factory sealed in Mercedes boxes front rotors for my 2005 SL55 from mymercedesparts (Mercedes of South Atlanta) for around $130/piece. I bought Akebono pads which stop just as well or better than the Mercedes factory pads but produce absolutely NO squeal or dust whatsoever.

Unless you have the ultra rare 030 package the brake rotors are amazingly inexpensive given their size and application.

No standard SL55's have one piece rotors. Only SL55's with the very rare 030 performance package have the expensive 2 piece rotors

I don't have the 030 performance package.

And for clarity, rotors from 2006 and earlier won't fit on a 2007. In case somebody has bought those they won't work for me.

It's not cheap, but an option since you're changing them out..

I bought these OEM rotors for my SLK55 030 from mymercedesparts about 6 months ago for $750 a piece which is a great deal and the best price I could find. I've been waiting for them to return online to order more parts..

OE rotors do not last too well regardless it's one piece or two piece, even just for street driving:

This is why most MB owners chose RB two piece rotors for OE replacement, whether you are looking for weight saving to improve braking performance & durability, or money saving. RB rotors offer both.

RB two piece rotors are made to last*, and you know if our rotors stand to track abuse on cars like those super muscle cars like Mustang GT500, Corvette Z06, Nissan GT-R and Porsche's GT3 etc. they shall be good for your MB, no matter you run them on street or tracks, and we guarantee the result.

*We certified our rotors are made with alloys, and heat-treated before machining to prevent them from warping under extreme heat.

C63 replace with RB two piece rotors and save some 12 lbs per rotor:

This Corvette ZR1 customer replaced his CCM rotors to RB two piece iron rotors.

Nissan GT-R track racer replaced his OE two piece to RB two piece:

RB, can you PM price for a set of Akebono rear pads for a 2008 SL55 w/o 030 pkg? Seems to be some confusion with other sellers about what I need? TIA.

Funny how all these brake calipers are the same regardless if they are Mercedes, Chevy, or Nissan.

I don't think Akebono got any Brake pads for any MB 6-pot 63's calipers..!,

but you can put any 55k's Akebono rear pads..
