sl55 roof problem
Alright guys.
I'm hoping somebody can help resolve this roof problem.
The car is 2003 sl55 with approx 103k miles. I can't get the stupid roof to open. It had been working just fine and since 2 days ago, it refuses to open.
The flaps are not sagging.
No apparent oil leak.
Battery is in good condition.
PSE pump works.
Changed all the brake pads with the battery disconnected a few days prior but I had used it just fine for a some days after the pad change.
With the switch pressed to open, I can hear the roof "unlock" over the driver's head and all the windows roll down slightly. Then, the trunk lid opens a few inches and stops, more so on the passenger side. it appears that something is not letting go of it. When I press it to close, it closes fine with confirmation in the dash.
Here's the video.
Thx in advance.

Just a guess but do the hydraulic struts that support the trunk when opened also help raise the trunk in the opposite direction when raising/lowering the roof and if so, if the struts are worn out could that keep the trunk lid from opening in reverse direction?

The lift struts are a little weak. I will change those and the tubular struts and see what happens. Thx for the advice.
