Sl65 Renntech vs Porsche GT3
Coming home from the beach with full tank of gas, two in the car and the trunk packed to the gills, I had the pleasure of "playing" with a Porsche GT3 (not RS). I was in the lead going about 75mph and saw him approaching. I stomped it and to my amazement my car walked away fairly easily. Above 90 acceleration was much more evident than lower speeds. After that I backed off but let him be my front door. Several more times he tried to shake me but gave up.
I was pleasantly surprised because of all the hype this car gets. I understand that it is a much better handler and as a track car there is no comparison but I thought that it would have more ump at high speeds. Is the downforce of the air effects items a hinderance then?
BTW Renntech upgrades make the SL65 a completely different car. It is a seriously under tired beast.

Yep, a little. I just thought that the GT3 being so light weight and slippery would do better against a 4200 pound behemoth that was fully loaded.

I agree, my SL600 RENNTech is much more responsive than my non-RENNTech SL65. Your story makes me want to get off by butt and do the chip upgrade. Such a simple but big bang for the buck upgrade.

Dated (2005) Car and Driver comparison of 6 stock luxury high performance cars (incl SL65 and 991 Turbo S (not GT3)). Note the leader for 30-50 MPH and 50-70 MPH categories (as well as the 2nd place for 0-100, 0-150, and quarter). The high-torquer 65 kills the competition. It also helps compensate for the 65's high weight in the quarter.
My '05 65 is ECU/TCU chipped (Modern HorsePower) to 691HP/965Ft lbs. Haven't had an issue with any other car yet in straight-line blasts. Also, haven't had the enjoyment of matching with another non-stock or Black 65.
Keep the shiny side up boys and girls!

I raced the Z06 and I got smoked, from 40 and 60 a number of times, I just could not get any traction, I had traction control OFF. At the end I raced him from the dig with traction control ON and I did a lot better but still lost. Should have I had traction ON the entire time? Let me know, I thought It would be closer race, He dose have a lot bigger tires and wheel. I think he runs 345 in the back with 13" wheels
