SL 55 AMG V8 COMPRESSOR 2003
NEWBIE SL 55 AMG V8 COMPRESSOR 2003 QUESTION
Hello,
I am looking at boosting the 0-60 on the amg. I have been informed that the best bang for my buck is a new pulley and software tune. I think the 0-60 is currently around 3.8 seconds (MAYBE I AM WRONG). It is possible to get it down to 3.2 or 3.0 seconds?
Also, what are your thoughts on the 180 mm eurocharged vs the 170 mm AMS crank??
If this is a foolish question please be kind as I am a newbie and trying to learn.
Thank you kindly in advance and I appreciate the guidance.

I can't really speak to the actual 0 - 60 times, hopefully others will. I can tell you that one of the big tricks becomes maintaining traction. I'm sure you have already noticed that with a stock 55k.
Regarding mods and such, there are tons of options these days. The E55 guys share the same motor. There are lots of good discussions on different mods on the E55/E63 boards. I lurk there often to see what is going on.
A key to mods IMO is to decide what your ultimate goal is before you start. Will you be happy with a tune and larger counter pulley and be done with it or are you going to want to continue to make more mods. If the answer is the later and you don't live in a state were smog would be an issue then i suggest longtube headers and a tune as the best first mod. It creates a perfect foundation to build on. Or if you are happy with the gains, then you have achieved it without adding stuff that moves or rotates which has caused issues for some in the past.
