What issues besides ABC in high milage RS230
Looking to purchase a 2006-2010, what else besides ABC issues should I look for for?? After reading forums, it seems the ABC is just a maintenance issue. Change the fluid and no problems.
Thank You

Change the fluid. Also - replace hoses as needed. Rebuild Valve blocks as needed. It's not just fluid that needs maintenance in an ABC system.

The ABC system WAS troubled by early failures of high-pressure hoses--accompanied by failed hydraulic pumps when oil was dumped out the hoses and the pumps ran dry and scored. The hose failures were caused by very high temperatures from both radiant and conductive heat coming from the engine sump and exhausts. MBZ attempted to remedy by later installing half-measure thermal blankets. The problem was eventually solved by upgrading the hoses and thermal sleeves protecting the hoses. Hose failures are rare these days. The accumulators are still 'regular maintenance' items as are all save metal bellows accumulators. They simply lose a few molecules to the nitrogen gas charge dissolving into the rubber diaphragm and then into the oil and on out the reservoir vent. I am not aware of any change to the construction (different diaphragm material) of the accumulators. These are not expensive parts to replace every 60-80000 miles. As far as valve assemblies--they seldom fail or need replacement. The struts themselves again rarely fail but do 'wear-out ' every 100,000 miles or so.
