So I get a call from Sean yesterday, he said he still hasn't heard anything back from his supplier that provides the cartridges for the coilovers. But he said he will call me back Monday with an update.

He was also speaking to RMT and found out you can't swap the tandum pump with the power steering pump that's found in the SL350. Only the V8s can do a direct swap. Apparently the pulley doesn't lined up. He offered me a refund if this was a deal breaker but I still want to do the coilovers so I will have the kit sent with the power steering pump and see if I can make anything work.

He said another option would be to look into what pump the SL65 BS uses and see if I can track down the part number for it.

If that doesn't work he said RMT did was loop the ABC side of the tandum pump for the 2 V12 cars they did, but since my ABC pump is dead and if the power steering pump doesn't work, I'll prob just buy a rebuilt and hopefully since there wont be any ABC components hopefully the ABC side of the pump wont burn out on me.

Anyways that's all for now but at least he called me back yesterday and addressed the issues as well as offered me a refund if I didn't want to deal with the headache of trying to figure out what to do with the pump

At least you got an answer. Looks like the kit is NOT ready for sale as a complete conversion on the V12 and maybe or maybe not on the V8. Hope you can get it to work and find a replacement power steering pump that fits.

Yeah at least I got an answer, I'm trying now to track down the part number for an SL65 BS power steering pump but everytime I search the part online through any of the online part stores it gives me the part for the reg SL65, I think I'm gonna have to go to a dealer on Monday and have them search it through a vin off an SL65 BS

You know the power steering pump on the BS will be made out of a machined piece of unobtanium mined from the moons of Pandora.

Just call Mercedes Master Tech and ask them which pump they use for their conversion.

They use a standard power steering pump but for there V8s, if you look on ebay and see the conversions pieces they sell separately they noted that there pump will only work for the V8, from what I've been told RMT loops the Tandum pump on the V12s so it just recirculates without going through any of the ABC components.

Besides an SL65 BS pump I think another option to look into was the pump that the G65 uses since that car doesn't use ABC

I would imagine 65 BS and the G65 use the same pump. The third option is to have a custom pulley made for the V8 pump. I've had a few one off pulleys made by ASP. https://www.autospecialties.com/ They will make whatever you want and I've found the quality to be outstanding.

It looks like the SL65 black series uses an 005-466-99-01 which lists for $2,070 and can be found at MBDIRECTPARTS.COM for $1,475 (still ouch!)

I looked up a G65 and found it uses pump number 004-466-68-01 . This pump lists for $535 and can be had for $379 at MBDIRECTPARTS.COM. It is only availlable as a RE-man so add "80" to the end of the part number if you order it (004-466-68-01-80 ) . HOWEVER, there are only 2 peices shown available (world-wide I believe) .
It looks a bit different, so it would be good to verify that it is mounted in the same location/orientation on the G65 as the SL65.

Hope that helps,
Chris

For that price its basically a new tandum pump lol. I'll see what I can do with the pump that's provided. I think its a mounting issue too that might need some custom brackets. If not I've been noticing rebuilt ABC pumps are getting cheap now. I looked at Advance Auto Parts the other day and they offered a rebuilt from Cardone with a Limited Lifetime Warranty for $353. If the line is just looped on the ABC side hopefully nothing will cause it to blow out since no other components will be shared on the circuit anymore.

Last time i didn't took a photo of the parts and so i did it this time. Its really look nice on finishing, hope nothing will be miss to complete the conversion. Finger CROSS

We are crossing our fingers. Hope it all works out for you. If they get it sorted for the V12 models, I will be a customer.

I got a text friday night from Sean saying he got the parts, and he will be assembling them today, but the brackets needed anodizing and will take a few days. I was to busy to get back to him since I was heading out to NYC. I'll prob get back to him later today, and if anything I might actually head down to SoFL later this week for something work related so I might stop by the shop.

Looks great! Is there a price difference between V8 and V12 kits?
