oil needed

I've got 5k miles on my 2015 SL63 and the light came on saying to add oil.
Anyone else have this happen? Seems strange to me

It's normal for AMG cars

Supercharged engines burn oil to some degree

Thank-You

That has not been my experience. I have put 100k miles collectively on my 3 SL55's and never had to add oil between 15k services.

'94 SL600,'05 SL600,'06 S65,'07 E63,'14 E63S,'09SL600 all sold, ‘15 S65,‘18 E63S,'17 SL65, '17S65Cab
My 2006 S65 has required a quart of oil about every 2k miles since new. The 2007 E63 needed a quart about every 5k miles. The 2014 E63S has not required any oil but it only has 12K miles and the oil has been changed with the service. Neither of my SL600 biturbos required oil between changes, the AMG version seems to be assembled with different clearances.

Thanks for the added data points Tom. I would guess that your 2014 E63s has the same engine as my 2015 SL63

They should be essentially the same engines tuned to the same power output. As I recall the E63S went 6k miles before the first service with no added oil.

The first time was right before an oil change so I did not. This time I have only seen the warning once. There is no dip stick as it is electronic
