Retractable Top Hydraulic Pump -Bleeding?
My 1998 230 SLK rained oil on me one day. It was the actuator in the convertible top that locks the top down. I removed the actuator and replaced the seal in it (cost $0.25 - a new actuator was $400.). I believe I have air in the hyfraulic lines. There are several screws on the pump. I assume one of them is a bleed screw. I ordered the WIS manual on DVD on E-bay but couldn't get it to load on my computer (actually tried 3 computers). Anyone know how to bleed the hydraulic lines?

There is no bleed screw on the pump. The Allen bolt on top in the forward right corner is the fill plug. The two Allen screws on the side of the pump are valves. The brass colored one is the pressure relief valve for manual operation. Make sure it is closed, but do not over-tighten it.
Please let us know if you run into any further problems.
