Yeah, but I don't see anything on top. Just the one nut in the middle. Anyone have pics?

Yeah, I have the same problem removing the gas pedal. After removing the 10mm nut, I still wasn't able to remove the washer. I've seen pictures on older SLK's, the washer was easily removed. But on the 2001 SLK, I couldn't get the washer out -- it's hiding inside that recessed hole and you can't get any tool in to get it out. You may try to jiggle the pedal and pull it straight up at the same time to see if the pedal will slowly jiggle its way out of the bolt.
There's a plastic pin on top of the pedal, you can slide it out w/ a flat screw driver. But removing that pin really doesn't help removing the whole pedal either. I've just ordered a new pedal online. I may end up destroying the old pedal and put in the new one. |

After some doing, I was able to get it out. Know what it was? Elbow grease.
The bolt hole in the plastic housing got elongated horizontally. Since the washer has nowhere to go but with the housing it was jammed tight against the bolt and under the threads of the bolt. Basically, I just rocked the pedal side to side until there was enough play to get a small pry bar under it, then pried it off as straight as I could. I tested with a voltmeter and there is a short between the two resistor pins (5&6). Now, where is the least expensive vendor for a new pedal?? Or, maybe a Crossfire PN?? |

See my other thread in buying the gas pedal. ~$200 including shipping, brand new. Even used ones on Ebay are selling for ~$80 + $70 shipping out of U.K.

Thanks for the info, I had a P0120 DTC on my '01 SLK320, and I replaced the EA accelerator module, and I used a dental pick to remove the washer after removing the 10mm nut. It took a bit of work, but not to bad. also it required pulling aft on the lower EA assy. to remove the upper pin from the support bracket. then I disconnected the 2 connectors (pedal value sensor and kick down switch). This cured my acceleration lag problem. part $200. + $9.shpg from genuinemercedesparts.com
