That's the first SLK I've seen with the complete Lorinser exterior package (front apron, rear apron, side skirts, spoiler, speedster scoop, exhaust, and wheels). I wonder if it's got Lorinser interior and engine mods too.

Yeah, it's a little ricey (or would that be krauty). Lorinser is a big-name Mercedes tuner in Germany, but I've always thought their styling enhancements were a little overboard.

The biggest problem I have with cars like that is that for the money put into it, you could have almost bought an SLK32. Yes, I realize it's a pre-facelift SLK230, but there's at least $8000 in "upgrades" to that car, maybe alot more.

I know what you are saying, I am familiar with Lorinser, but I still think this looks rice....no way around it...

Funny thing is I see this kid all the time...people thought it was my car because I had a yellow '98 as well...eww

Do you want some sauce with that rice?
Man... i concur with the previous comment. Brabus i like... except for the excessive number of fog lights. Lorinser, they are the Rice... i mean Kraut of german automobiles.

I happen to like the bumper and spoiler but the speed scoops or whatever they are called over the roll bars are god awful I think that they ruin the lines of the car

countrybumkin, have you seen this picture before? It's the original SLK prototype from the Turin auto show in 1994.

Those aren't bad...they are small and understated....the ones above are too big an akward looking.

Yeah, I agree. I just wondered if countrybumkin knew that the SLK was designed to have the scoops. There were two original prototypes. One had speedster scoops without the folding hardtop. The other had roll bars with the folding hard top.

BTW, those bulbous Lorinser speedster scoops are more than just awkward looking. You actually have to remove them to put the top up.

I don't think there could be any way around that no matter what size it is...

Yeah, I have to wonder if the roof could clear those obstacles trying to close.

We just said (read above) that they need to be removed.

They MUST be removed. There's even a safety switch that you can install that disables roof operation while the scoops are installed.

BTW, It's not actually the roof that's the problem. The roof panel clears the scoops easily, but when you operate the roof, the rear shelf flips up toward the roll bars and the scoops are in the way.

correct me if i'm wrong, but those look like Carlsson 2/5 rims...

And yeah, I've always thought that Lorinser's body kits have never been too attractive... their rims are that great either... i'd hvae to vote for Carlsson over Lorinser...

There is 1 thing I like from Lorinser, and that is their FRONT (only the front) CLK DTM bumper... now that thing is sweet...

and this would be it:

I thought they were Lorinser LM-5 rims, but maybe you're right, I don't have a pic to compare.
