Hi carolina bluetech. Thanks for pointing those things out. I called the MB parts and they said they have seen of the wrinkling of the headliner for the R170's. Some people spend $60 to buy a headliner and put it in themself or you can get a car upholstery shop to redo it with a cloth/viynl material for $80 or so. Can you point out the cylinder leak in the photos? I took the photo after I had the engine bay washed and the whole thing was dry as a bone without any oil leasks...

There is a latching hydraulic cylinder in the center of the roof that secures the top in place and releases to let the top go down. If it leaks hydraulic fluid, the headliner will wrinkle and/or sag. The wrinkles are near the A pillar on the passenger's side. It is also possible that there may be a water leak in that area from a top seal. The headliner is easy to take out and check what is causing the wrinkles.
P.S. When I first looked at your set of images, that area could clearly be seen on an interior shot, it would appear that that image is no longer a part of the set.

Thanks for the info and instruction. I just went to the car and checked to see if it was any water leak around the seal. It has been in the car wash last week and no water passed through. I guess it must be the latch issue.
I searched on internet and this is how to fix.

I did remove the photos with the wrinkles on it. I believe some people care and some people don't care about the minor detail. When we first got it we thought it was just the way that the headliner contours around the corners. It is firm, solid and does not sag or feel any different than any other parts of the headliner.
Please keep in mind it is not a new car and I didn't want to make it to be one nor I expect to get the full price that the MB dealership sells it for. It is clean and in really good shape and drives really nice. The convertible operates and locks with absolutely zero issue but I don't want any negativity as some people are overtly sensitive.
So, with all that's said, the next owner have the option to have it fixed by a shop around here or they want to DIY. please consider it in the offer/bid.
BTW, If anyone wants it for the price that the dealership sells for I will certainly fix whatever that's needed. I just got off the phone with the MB guys couple blocks down. They have not seen one in this year range with this mileage and the upgrades it had so they can't give an exact number but if they had one on their lot it would be 11k+ especially in Spring and early summer.
Warranty is available too! We use two third party company regularly. The premium starts at about 2k for 3 month that covers a lot of the the the major parts/jobs like drivetrain. This car qualifies for it. More inclusive premiums as well as extended time are available too. Please call for details.
Thanks again carolina bluetech for all the info. If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask!

It is not really a big deal. Every 170 SLK will eventually have a top cylinder leak in one or more of the 5 cylinders, it is just a matter of time. They can be repaired for a reasonable cost by the owner or an Indy shop.

That's great news! From the forum post I found it is about $200 but I did a search on ebay it is cheap like 30 bucks! I think the cylinder does not fail but only the rubber seals are when they getting older.
