R170 air recirculation malfunction

Hello my air recirculation comes on without warning, blowing hot air.If i stop after about ten minutes of driving and turn the engine off it usually solves the problem until the next time. Also the engine fan has its own agenda as well. Any ideas would be gratefully appreciated.

mine didnt work either, turned out to be the resistor/control unit, screws on next to the fan itself - doddle to replace, oh & fan box was full of muck/dirt/leaves & pollen filter is right next to it as well

Resistor/control unit? The one next to the fan? My fan has all the speeds...any idea what that part number is? Thanks for the info!

ah we may be at cross purposes?? it was my air con/heater fan that wasnt working, if yours has all its speeds then sounds like its ok... I have the a/c heater fan resistor unit part number if thats what you want?

Hi, sir,

You might be right...mine just doesn't change to recirculate at all...even if the light is on. There is no change in sound.

hello Texas from Hertfordshire UK (about 20 miles north of London) sounds like a different problem completely, hope you manage to find the answer, is this an issue on your Crossfire? are the SLK & Crossfire a/c sytems/controls the same?

Hello, Hertfordshire! I live about 25 miles south of Houston.

The Crossfire and the SLK are alike in all respects but body cladding...it is an issue on the Crossfire.
