6 speed SLK E55 AMG build thread
Figured i should have a build thread in the right section sorry the first post is a duplication of my new member intro. I have fallen in love with the idea of the poor mans Super car so I have decided to do the following.
Engine will be an E55 AMG (later to be supercharged) (will ship Monday)
Trans will be a 6 speed from the 2003 3.2 Crossfire. (in transit)
Brake upgrade will be SL500 Brembo brakes (in transit)
330mm slotted rotors (I need suggestions on a brand and seller likely Brembo)
I am yet to decide on coilovers but if I can save and wait I will go D2's had em and loved em.
Yes this is quite the lofty build but very similar builds have been done by a select few and I am starting to reach out to people with this specialized expertise so if you are reading it and you are that person say hello and if you know someone who could be this person do some name dropping.

I lucked out and found these on KSL 18x7.5 Zinick Z15's. I wanted to wait till I was ready for this part of the build but I could not pass them up for the price. 250.00 and they are normally 1500.00 this build has a lot of good luck supporting it so far I was hoping for a wider rear wheel but the deal was too good to not do it. I can always run drag slicks in the rear if I track it.

engine has arrived.
The engine and trans swap items have arrived. And I am in contact with a drifter who mated the e55 to a BMW manual.
Along with the engine I received the key the ignition and the ecu

Calipers and brakes are ready to go on
Still debating on Goodrich ss brakelines but I finished the calipers and the rotors are here so this step is complete for now. I will likely wait till I take it down before I put it all on.

While I like your idea and think it sounds cool I'm not sure it will be worth the trouble. Considering a real super car let's say a 2004 SL55 AMG can be had for in the teens. The m113k engine is awesome.
By the time your car will approach 11 second qtrs I feel every factory part will blow apart. And have to be custom made. almost, all suspension parts will have to be upgraded . Then you get into the tq and the car will crumble. In the end the sl55 will be better faster cheaper and better equipped to handle what your looking for

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and advice. However it is just as much about the process of the build as it is the end result. I actually really enjoy doing this type of thing and as parts break it becomes an excuse to buy a massive improved part in its place and in some cases design one to be custom fabbed. Had it just been about getting a fast car yeah there would be plenty of cheaper easier alternatives. I also noticed I didn't post the exhaust parts that came in. Just doesn't seem to be much interest so updates are slow.

I have kind of neglected my build thread here. I have made a few more purchases in recent weeks in preparation for the build. Once I realized how much it was going to cost each tuning session I decided to shift directions a bit and put together the engine with everything on it that I could afford since it would require a retune each time I added an item that changed anything power wise. So to get this thread up to where I am now here's what I picked up.
An 82mm throttle body (on the right) for the increased air I intend to flow
A better set of headers. I learned that I would need to pull the engine to add them later so may as well do it in round 1
Might do long tubes later once I know what my spacing will look like.
I will be building a custom intake like the others I have seen similar to the needswings setup. So I picked up a y pipe.
Picked up a aeromotive for for the additional fuel requirements and a Bosch 044 fuel pump (no pic of it at the moment) I do intend to split the fuel rail to get better equalization in the line and I will likely loop it just because my Legend was.
I was able to score a great deal on a supercharger fully equipped with everything but the SC pulley which was okay because I knew what I wanted and it was not a stock pulley.
Not too long after getting the supercharger I came across the pulley I wanted. Now I just need someone who can tune all this madness lol. Eurocharged 77mm fixed pulley.
And now we are all caught up. I have this build posted on a few different sites as I go in hopes to find as many people as possible who are into this kind of stuff and enjoy it along with sharing learning experiences you may have gone through so again sharing wisdom is appreciated. I still need a good heat exchanger, 550cc injectors, a radiator and an lsd. Hope to here from you soon.

Thank you, I'm excited for it as well
Made another tune impacting purchase in an effort to not have to re-tune the car multiple times before it is where I want it. This one is the 82mm throttle body. If I upgraded later it would require a re-tune. I won't get a baseline but I will save a lot of money in the long run this way. Just a few more items before I am ready to end the purchasing phase and jump into the building phase.
Pics of the 82mm throttle body.
This is a pic of the mounting difference between stock (Tb gasket) and the 82mm throttle body.
Left on the wish list is a wavetrack lsd, all aluminum radiator, inline intake air filters, and a set of 550cc injectors then down the road perhaps an ice tank and coil overs but those can wait.

After some in depth reading and comparisons about the cm30 vs the Bosch 002 vs the Bosch 010, and flow rates and head rates I decided to go with the Bosch 010 (not arrived yet) . The cm30 looked nice but at the end of the day I read an equal amount of pros and construction for it and the Bosch and I could not justify spending for the meizer so I leaned toward the Bosch simply because I have the 044 for the fuel pump. In my efforts to reduce cost without cutting corners I also found a heat exchanger that was used but decent with the exception of a moderately sized dent that I am not happy about since it was not in the pics they posted in the listing so Ivan in negotiations for a partial refund. As for the unit it is the size I wanted 26" X 7" X 3.5" very similar to the frozenboost unit but with 3/4" plumbing.

A couple more parts for the intake came in the diameter is so much bigger in person than when looking at pics of intakes kinda makes me laugh. I will go with 4" inlets that will lead into 5" pipe that will house the 5" inline filters then it will narrow back out into 4" piping that will narrow down to a 3.5" y which will lead into the 82mm throttle body

I would be worried about the internals of the normal M113 once you add the supercharger off a M113K especially with a smaller pulley. I did install a Supercharger on my wife's car a while back, and it was not originally supercharged, but I kept the boost down to 5 psi, but who knows MB engines might be good enough to take it, not trying to discourage you, but just thinking out loud I guess

In this case I agree 100% since Mercedes had made changes in the pistons of the w211 to make them stronger than the w210 there is reason to believe they won't handle as much force. I believe they changed the writ pin thickness and the oil channel to increase the strength of the w211. I also know the w211 has a lower compression design, unfortunately neither are forged aluminum if I recall. My plan at first is the same as yours emncfi low boost till I prove this actually will all work together and that I can do it then I will do an engine rebuild with Ross pistons and up the boost.

Here is a few pics of the 4" to 5" transition with the 5" spectre filter(s) in it. I am glad this actually worked the way I expected since I only saw one pic on the net that indicated that it would. I am not concerned about the looks as it will be covered by shielding or paint. More of a sneak peak really.

Thank you. I was able to reach out to Eurocharge and they are still providing a tune for the 77mm fixed pulley so I am hoping that it won't be too much of a nightmare with the hybrid ecu.

They were able to tune my hybrid ecu just like a normal e500, but I am n/a and have a stock engine for now. I was looking into tb upgrades and ran into your thread. I just ordered my 82mm and a spare intake manifold, once those come in I will play around with how I am going to mount the tb. I will probably end up doing a diy dual intake like yours after I am able to get everything to play nice together.
