SLK 170 Roof R170 (roof stuck issue resolved)
Dear All,
I wanted to share the phenomenon of my SLK R170 roof, which was stuck in the closed locked position since I bought it 6/8 weeks ago. actually freeing itself. I was just about to book the car into a specialist to go through the fault process, having recently bought two roof locking mechanisms (Front left & right - now FOR SALE £25) waiting in the boot to be used, just in case the fault related to the front catches and hey presto; I am driving with a bit thrust at speed along an M Way and the roof started to leak air at the front. A bizarre noise like a sunroof is just a jar. Anyway, some hours later I tried the roof switch and to my amazement, it opened and closed beautifully. Wow. I couldn't believe it. Have since greased the entire rubber section and the locks. BTW. All those posts and theories were extremely helpful in keeping keeping clear of main dealer pricing. I also have a cloth interior for sale. eBay item number:262002157584 and a set of Alloys/Tyres eBay item number:262002149530. Regards Westrock200
