Defrost vent not working

I notice almost no air coming out of the front windshield vents. Changing positions on the air control dial does nothing to change airflow,
Is this an easy fix? How do I get to the defrost vent to check if it's stuck or clogged with something?

So you select defrost and select the highest fan speed and the same amount of air comes out when the fan speed is lowered---is that correct?

Correct. However the fan works fine for the other vents. I just cannot get any airflow to speak of in the windshield vents no matter the fan setting.

The defrost steppers require the removal of the dash--therefore if it were me I would find an indy with factory software to confirm that it is in fact a faulty flap motor!!

Well I should have known it would be a complicated fix. It's a Mercedes after all.
I did not realize a motor was involved.

2006 CLK350 Cabriolet (A209)
I was scrolling through and noticed your post. I have an '06 CLK350 and my drivers side defrost vent stopped blowing air. Just had it repaired by an indy and the motor cost was around $150 and labor was around $650. On my model there is a test that can be run by holding down two buttons until a light starts blinking, one of the buttons is the recirculate button not sure without looking what the other button is...maybe someone here could tell you if you have that option on your car. After holding the 2 buttons it turns on each vent option one at a time and when finished if the motors and controls are ok the light flashes then goes out. Somehow my guy changed my motor out by going from under the dash and didn't remove mine. Unless you only have one motor that feeds both your drivers and passenger vents it's odd that both would go out at the same time?
