1998 SLK 230 Kompressor
TPS Problem ???
I have a 1998 SLK 230 Kompressor, automatic, 105K miles. It doesn't get driven very much, and has started showing its age.
The car starts and idles just fine...not rough, doesn't die. When I press down on the accelerator, the engine does not rev up for about 4 seconds, then it slowly increases in rpm. The car does accelerate, but it is pretty slow. I can cruise along at 70mph with no problems, just takes a while to get up to speed. There are no lights, and I put a code reader on it and no codes. I had read about the TPS causing something like this, so I did a live readout of the TPS. With the ignition on, engine NOT running, the TPS shows about 5% at idle (not pressing on pedal). With the pedal to the floor, the TPS reads 29%. Again, car runs fine, no miss. What do you experts think? I am guessing TPS or MAF. Oh, I am in Podunk Arkansas, no dealer within 150 miles.
Thanks
