Change Engine in R171, from slk200 to slk280

Is it possible for such an upgrate from M111 to M272 engine? Does it need to do all the wiering? Both engines have the manual gear box. I'm asking this cause I found an engine from a slk280 really cheap and in good condiition.

Hello.
Two very different manual transmissions are required for each. I'm not sure, but most non-AMG r171s all share the same differential (albeit can be different gear ratios, however they may even be the same, but the ratio is no matter considering you're considering this with a manual gearbox -- manuals can change gear ratio without problem).
But I digress, you would need at least: engine, transmission <-- clutch hydraulics and gear shifter linkage are different as well, and driveshaft (assuming here differential is OK).
Then you will need the ECU, the entire wiring harness, the matching EIS, probably new front/rear SAMs. The radiator may not be big enough.

Basically. You need to sell the car and purchase an SLK280 if that is what you desire. You're going to end up spending just as much money in this case. Switching to an entirely different generation of motor, which in this case also requiring an entirely new wiring harness, EIS, ECU, the guage cluster would probably need to be swapped as well, and your fuel pump.

If you were switching motors within the same generation, like a slk280 to an slk350 or an slk320 to an slk32, hell even an slk320 to an slk55--- it be more within the realm of consideration.

Your only option with that motor would be to purchase it to swap into an m272 slk280 w/ blown motor.
Unless you found it for an absolute steal, I'd rather buy the E35 m272, a much better engine than the E30. Otherwise tear the bottom end from the 3.0, replace with an E35 crank and overbore to 86mm w/ E35 pistons.
That all may sound crazy, but no crazier than the ny-near inpossible idea of putting an m272 into a m111 car :p
