SLK/R171: cup holders

I did discover a very interesting issue with the SLK cup holders, they look very strange, they work very well, however, they sit right in front of the central AC vents, my hot coffee becomes cool coffee very quickly, not an issue with cool drinks, it will keep them cool, but I hate cold coffee.

You have the AC on! What? Where do you live? May be I should move there! I am freezing my butt off! And I don't even want to know what's going on in Alberta or Ontario (-20C/-4F!)!
I have the heater on and my cold bottle of water is, well I just need some instant coffee or tea bag; who said two for one was bad!
Word of advice; be very very careful not to spill anything! That my friend would be really FU!

DON'T!!!! Use the cupholders!
The cup holders are directly over the electronics. Drinks sweat. Horrible design, but what are you gonna do? I'd recommend not using them at all. I don't.

when i take a turn to fast in my car the drink spills all over the nav screen and my AC controls i just carry a tissue or a napkin when i have a drink and if i have hot coffe i just carry it and drink it fast

how do I remove the cupholder IN MY 2005 AMG SLK so I can fix it ? I can find no way to pull it out
