Do a search on Kleemann s/c problems, one guy had a total nightmare with his install in no small part due to the installer. I would pay the extra for Renntech or not do it.

I took a few pics of my SL55 and SLK55 AMGs.

SLK55 will be getting modded in a few weeks.

Enjoy...

My mods were just installed.

My mod list has changed slightly.
The Nitto NT05 275/30/19 rear tires were just a tad bit too wide. They're good enough for me but since this is for my girl, I didn't want to chance it, so I went with Toyo Proxes T1R. Just wish the Nitto NT05 came in 265 sizes.
The Carlsson Stainless Steel Safety Roll Bars are no longer available, so I went with Brabus.

Updated mod list:
-Brabus Monoblock S Wheels 19x8.5 and 19x9.5
-Toyo Proxes T1R Tires 235/35/19 and 265/30/19
-Brabus Stainless Steel Safety Roll Bars
-Bluetooth and Ipod Integration System
-SmartTop module
-Supersprint X-Pipe
-Clear Bumper Marker Lights
-Chrome Grille Inserts
-Short Anteana

Sorry for the small pics, but I'll get some better pics soon.

I would go with a used Gen I Kleemann SC. Ahmad ran 10.66 1/4mile on 9psi and no spray which is a MB record.

I don't know the weight of my stock AMG 030 performance package wheels, but I would say that my new wheel/tire setup is slightly heavier. I'll find out the weight of my stock wheels and report back.

Weight of my new wheel/tire setup:
Brabus Monoblock S Wheels weigh 29 lbs.
235/35/19 Toyo Proxes T1R Tires weigh 22 lbs.
265/30/19 Toyo Proxes T1R Tires weigh 24.5 lbs.

Weight of my stock tire setup:
225/40/18 Pirelli Pzero Rosso tires weigh 23 lbs.
245/35/18 Pirelli Pzero Rosso tires weigh 21 lbs.

Weight of my new wheel/tire setup:
8.5x19 Brabus Monoblock S Wheels weigh 29 lbs.
9.5x19 Brabus Monoblock S Wheels weigh 31 lbs.
235/35/19 Toyo Proxes T1R Tires weigh 22 lbs.
265/30/19 Toyo Proxes T1R Tires weigh 24.5 lbs.

New Front wheel/tire weight is 51 lbs.
New Rear wheel/tire weight is 55.5 lbs.

Weight of my stock wheel/tire setup:
7.5x18 AMG 030 multi-piece twin-spoke light alloy wheels weigh 28 lbs.
8.5x18 AMG 030 multi-piece twin-spoke light alloy wheels weigh 30 lbs.
225/40/18 Pirelli Pzero Rosso tires weigh 23 lbs.
245/35/18 Pirelli Pzero Rosso tires weigh 21 lbs.

Stock Front wheel/tire weight is 51 lbs.
Stock Rear wheel/tire weight is 51 lbs.

I purchased the Brabus Monoblock S wheels because of their 19” size, style, and aggressive look, not because of their weight. But to my surprise they're not that much different in weight being 19" compared to my stock 18" wheels.
I just wonder why the AMG 030 multi-piece twin-spoke light alloy wheels weigh so much.

It was a puzzle to almost all of us 030 owners and we raised a ruckus about it.

Of course havoc ... you will have to test out a set of low weight rims ... Even without going to the insanely expensive carbonfiber rims ... you can get rims that cut 10lbs a corner.
40 lbs of rotational mass ... woo hoo!

I wonder if the AMG 030 multi-piece twin-spoke light alloy wheels are even lighter than the stock non-030 SLK55 wheels. I can't imagine those wheels weighing that much more.

Yeah, cutting out 10 lbs. a corner and loosing 40 lbs of rotational mass would probably be noticable. If I were to to go with lighter wheels I would choose HRE's Comp series, but for now it's Brabus Monoblock S. They just look like they were built for a silver SLK55 AMG.

Yeah, that's weird. I just read an article that stated the AMG 030 wheels are heavier for proper cornering and traction.

Thanks WiglafSLK55!

I believe they are 30 front, 35 rear.

I attached a link for Mercedes Alloy wheels fitments.

Those Brabus wheels really do look great on the SLK55. I went through the same "weight dilemma" when I got my Brabus, but they way they look on the car just says it all. Very nice choice.

Thanks SoCalCLK!

I agree, our Brabus wheels might be heavy, but their look makes up for it.

Your 19" BRABUS Mono VI 2-piece wheels are some of the best looking wheels on the market.

A few months ago I took my SLK55 AMG on a 2,000 mile road trip from Los Angeles up to Washington State and back. The trip was flawless. Now, my SLK55 is not as comfortable as my SL55 on long road trips, but it can definitely hold it's own. I drove it very hard to include through rain storms and a few inches of snow and the handling was spot on. The brakes on the 030 Performance Package are amazing and very responsive which makes me feel very safe driving at high speeds in thick traffic. I believe the K in SLK stands for Compact, but it has a lot of power for it’s size. The power to weight ratio makes the SLK55 one of the easiest and most enjoyable cars I have ever driven. I had a blast and I received plenty of thumbs up. To anyone that is thinking about getting one, I say go for it!

Here are a couple of pics I took once I arrive at my sister's house in Northern Washington.

Looking good!

FWIW, K stands for "kurz" which is often translated as "short" but "compact" is certainly a very reasonable and appropriate translation, too.
