Havoc's second AMG
I just purchased a 2006 SLK55 AMG with 030 Performance Package for my girl.
Now we have matching his and hers AMG Roadsters!
I just ordered the following cosmetic mods:
-19x8.5 and 19x9.5 Brabus Monoblock S Wheels
-Carlsson Stainless Steel Safety Roll Bars
-SmartTop module
-Short Anteana
-Clear Bumper Marker Lights
-Chrome Grille Insert
I also ordered GreenFilter High Performance Air Filters.
Tires I'm considering are 235/35 and 265/30 Nitto NT555 or Michelin PS2s.
I'm not sure if I'll lower it yet so for now the ride height will stay stock.

I know that the 030 Performance Package includes a Nurburgring Suspension which is more aggressive but I didn't know that it actually made the car sit lower. If that's the case then I rather not mess with it.
You read my mind about removing the resonator and replacing it with an X-pipe. I always wanted a complete Supersprint exhaust system so perhaps now's my chance.
I'm definitely going to mod this little thing and I'm looking at my options. I guess Kleemann S/C, cams, and tune with Supersprint exhaust is the way to go.

I'd reconsider the rims ... the brabus rims are really heavy. I believe they are almost 8-10lbs heavier (per rim) than carlsson or renntech.
As to the Supersprint exhaust ... I would suggest getting the supersprint resonator instead of the Xpipe. Especially if you are throwing on a supercharger.
I'm switching to the supersprint resonator instead of the supersprint xpipe myself.
The car is just way too loud otherwise. I was around half throttle and around 110db at leguna seca.
Ride height is just a little bit lower with the 030. It will still look a bit high with the 19inch rims. My suggestion would be to get a set of KWv3's. You can set it up a bit lower and have just as good ride comfort.
Congrats on the matching AMGs!

I'll look into your suggestions.
Wow! 8-10lbs per wheel is a lot! Yeah, I thought the Brabus wheels were lighter at first until they told me they weighed around 27lbs each. Just as long as these 19" Brabus Mono S's don't weigh more than my 18" stockers, then I'm cool with them. I'm just sold on the way they look on a silver SLK55!
I'll check out the KWv3's though. Thanks!
Did you install the Kleemann headers and have just the secondary cats?

No I have the Renntech supercharger ( almost 50k miles!) , Supersprint long tube headers, Supersprint 100cell cats, and Supersprint Xpipe.
If you go with the Kleemann headers you are going to lose your primary cats. Same thing with any long tube design. Personally no reason to get the Kleemann headers if you are going Supersprint. You might as well go all Supersprint instead of mixing and matching the exhaust. Also while I have no negative opinions of the Kleemann supercharger ... I have seen multiple Kleemann headers crack.

Yeah, I'll probably go all Supersprint for my exhaust but retain my stock mufflers.
I'm still uncertain about which S/C to go with though. Kleemann currently has a great deal and for $10K I can get their S/C setup with cams uninstalled. Renntech's S/C is currently a few thousand $ more without cams uninstalled.
Any suggestions?
Do you have any problems or issues with your Renntech S/C setup.
Have you dynoed or tracked your car?

Last dyno was around 410rwhp. torque was around 440 or something.
Tracked at leguna sega ... LOVED IT.
1/4 track is 2nd gear start with Mickey Thompsons at 11.8. Recently installed a quaife LSD but haven't gone to the track since the install. I can't start in 1st ... just not enough traction even with the Drag Radials. I'll be trying even lower tire pressure on the MT's next time.
I normally run with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires. If you don't you will be losing tracking all the damn time. If I remember correctly, on Michelin Pilot Sports, I was spinning out into 4th gear at the 1/4.

Yeah I very happy with the reliability of this kit. zero heat soak issues. I could run like 10x in a row at the 1/4 without any degradation.
Same as my setup ... I also have all supersprint but retain the stock mufflers.
While supposedly the Kleemann kits have higher hp (first generation, my understanding of the 2nd generation is about the same as Renntech) ... I honestly dont know how they can possibly put it to the ground effectively. (meaning getting better results) I can only talk of my experiences with Hartmut/Ken from Renntech, which is superb. Nothing has broken or needed maintenance on the supercharger besides replacing the belt a couple times.

I really like your set-up and having 50K miles with zero heat soak issues says a lot. Spinning out into 4th gear at the 1/4 is just insane!
I just want a perfect set-up and install with no issues and I don't mind paying the bucks to ensure it happens. If I go with the Renntech S/C, I'll probably still get the Kleemann Cams! LOL!
Thanks again SLK55R!

BTW my car was down for 1 day to install the supercharger ...
I would suggest getting in touch with Ken to get more specifics (where to install, pricing, ecu tuning, etc)

You will need a custom tune for the cams if you go with the renntech sc. Shouldn't be a problem for Jeff. They have done cams before just the gains weren't really worth the cost.

I know that Kleemann's S/C systems are CARB and TUV approved. Is Renntech's S/C systems CARB and TUV approved as well?
