Best of luck. But The problem with a supercharged SLK is traction. I was losing traction starting in 2nd gear on Drag radials.

When I ran on PS2s I was losing traction up to into 4th gear.

You will not get in the low 11's on PS2s.

Best times I could pull were high 11s. I did put in a LSD after my last attempt and I think that with even lower tire pressure on the drag radials I could have got some better times. But I haven't gone back to the track.

I agree, I get wheelspin into 3rd, you have to really control the throttle in order to hook up, but it pulls REALLY hard in the upper RPM range...
TheQuaife LSD made a huge difference but its still a lot of power in a light car.. We will see.. at the end of the day, its not a drag car, nor do I want it to be. More fun on the autocross

This particular car has the Kleemann headers, 3" mid-pipes, Supersprint x-pipe and the factory rear mufflers. The Kleemann headers right now are right around $1500.00 and the materials cost to do the mid pipes is around $750.00. Labor to put the headers in and manufacturer the mid-pipes is probably between $1100-$1500. All of the materials we used are 16 gauge 304 stainless, mandrel bent seamless tubing and stainless fixtures and hardware. All the pipes and accessories are tig-welded and we use all the factory mounting points in the car. The factory parts can still all be bolted back in.

The supercharger is right around $9000.00 and the installation is in the $2500.00 range. The installation takes 7-10 days and is fairly complicated even though Kleemann does a great job with the kit. We change a lot of the hoses and some other parts that come with the kit. We also fabricate some brackets to hold a lot of the accessories that come with the supercharger so that they are securely mounted and still allow you to gain access to the factory parts for basic service on the car.

As Sergio will attest, the results speak for themselves. The sound is intoxicating, the level of performance is almost unparalleled and you end up with a very unique product at the end of the day. If you have any questions, I will be happy to answer them for you.

exhaust

I went with the full supersprint headers (work of art btw), supersprint cats, supersprint xpipe and then stock mufflers.

To be honest it was almost too loud. I was going to switch the xpipe out and put the resonator back in.

The sound is wonderful though. But just to give you an idea, at leguna seca they have a very strict sound policy. So every time I went around the sound booth I was coasting.
By the end of the day I thought, heck why not lets have a little fun when I was following a ferrari. I decided to go about 1/2 way on the accelerator near the sound booth. I got immediately black flagged and the dec lvl was over 110.
I can't imagine what it would have been if I had gone all out.

Have fun with your car Sergio! I certainly did.

Lizard,
very different car than an SL63. I truly enjoyed mine and for much longer than I thought. Normally I don't stay in a car more than a couple years but I absolutely loved the supercharged SLK55. Actually since i sold it to an employee of mine, I still get to look fondly at it every day!

Thank you for the info, Staff@RPM.

Slk55R,
I do miss having my slk55, especially on a nice day when the top can come down. It was bit tight in space as my only car but I now have the e92 for that. So, I'm looking at a couple of options within the next year or so for my second car. The Clk63 BS, Sl63, or a supercharged Slk55 are my choices.

What kind of hood do you have on your car? It looks very nice!
I wish I could get the newer bumper for my car

SLK55 Black Series
The exhaust is not for the faint of heart... You hear the car coming, and I probably wouldn't want it if it was my everyday car ... But, you really have to hear it to appreciate, it's not just a loud sound, you hear the power and it did free up that supercharger to do what it is meant to do. BUT at normal cruising speeds it tolerable... But when you punch it, it makes grown men cry... Haha

The diffuser is from Piecha, a German company, and the full length spoiler I had custom made by the same guy that custom made menthe hood.

And thanks for the nice comments guys, I think it was tastefully done.. But of course it's not to everyone's liking, a lot of long nights online and thought went into what I wanted from it... Amazing power, a one of a kind look and a folding hard top... I am in the process of a few new mods that should be completed in time for summer... Of course... They are one offs...lol

in other words its a slk55 "modified" with black series parts, its not a black series

yes

and it isn't a full black series. It still has the convertible roof.

Regardless the mods you could do to a regular SLK55 with black series parts (other than roof) were very nice.

SLK55 Black Series
I couldn't get my hands on a 2008 BS, which was the last year... So i had MB do everything to it after I bought it, it was the only way.
a badge does not make an AMG or a BS, but the title, which I had revinned in Germany.. does..
MB came down and put a new VIN on the car...was a long process...
But thats why these forums are great...
And yes, a "true" black series was made 2006-2008...not 2009
At this point, its significantly more than a Black Series... it started as an SLK55 AMG, sent out for "Black Series" treatment
and now is something much more
I appreciate the positive comments..

did you get the one piece roof that gets rid of the convertible functionality?

Yes, that was one of the first things, ita pretty cool all CF and much lighter BUT... I had done in the fall by summer time I switched it back...
Best of both worlds even though it added weight, hence the supercharger to balance things out... Lol

If you got the roof as well I'd say yours is a true black series.

BUT are you NUTS! put the CF roof back on!

What did you get after the SLK
And as Someone who had it with a supercharger...
Did you ever have any issues?
I thank god am, very happy and can't see
What I would get next that would be as
Fast & versatile... An SL63 is nice but slower
And not as nimble...
Maybe a Gallardo Supperlegerra..

porsche

I got a 2010 porsche turbo PDK. I wanted to get something that could put all the power down.

I'll ask my friend how many miles he has on the car now but It most likely is over 70k miles with over 60k on the supercharger.

It was hard picking the next car because it had to be at least as fast! I looked at the R8 v10 but it didn't have any backseats. my wife said I had to get a car with back seats so I opted for the porsche.

Also picked up a couple 1992 500e. I love those classic ones.

Issues :

Hrmmm only one that I can think of is I was snapping the lugnuts pretty often. The SLK uses 12mm bolts instead of the thicker 14mm bolts. You have to be very careful on the torque rates or the bolts will snap.

Complaints :

One issue is that when I had the car none of the tuners had a way to have multiple programs that you could switch between. I ran the car in 100 octane but when I sold it to my friend I had it detuned to 91 octane for california.

Inability to fit wider tires in the rear. You would need to do some body modifications to be able to do that. I'm guessing that you need around a 305 in the rear to hold the torque in check. Problem is the the largest you can go is 265.
I had to use michelin pilot sport cup tires and they really aren't the best in the rain.

Heavy front. It was really obvious at leguna seca how heavy the front of the car was. You have the black series parts so it should be a little better. Took the porsche to the same track and it was like night and day.

the 7 speed tranny - sometimes has issues knowing what gear to be in. It also doesn't shift very fast. When you are racing you need to be prepared and ready or you really lose some time with the slow tranny.

I have to say I know the porsche is faster but I think racing the SLK was more exciting. What I do love about the porsche is the HP/Torque, ability to put it down, 4 wheel drive, and the amazing PDK transmission. I don't think I can get another new car without this type of transmission.

Awesome info
I am with you on all of these
I have 265's in the rear.. PS2's
Good when they heat up but too much
Power to really hook up

Tranny again, shifts "seem" a little better
In the 09's but need to be faster

And we seem to have the same taste
Audi V10, Porshe PDK and Lamborghini SL
Are on the list

I have taken the car out on Monticello
Pocono etc... And it feels great...
Hits the rev limiter too quick

I love the Porshe... Great choice
