Dealer says CPO extended warranty not available for SLS

Dealer says CPO extended warranty is not available on AMG cars, specifically the SLS coupé and convertibles

I trusted this Dealership and have decade's long relationship with them but was about to close a deal on a preowned SLS when this question came up.

In lieu of this ^^^ "fact", they've provided a selection of several aftermarket warranty programs.

What's the word coming down to you guys regarding the MB CPO program factory extended warranty?

Just bought my SLS on Friday and they offered it up to me then, so does not make sense. Also said I could buy it now or buy it in 4 years when maintenance is up. No issues

Agreed, it doesn't.. unless there's something they're trying to hide. Is there a required break-in procedure? I performed a mbusa-com search and it shows 26 AMG SL cars with CPO extended warranty, so my dealer is not being completely frank with me.

You must have bought new (you said 4 years warranty); if you bought a coupé, what discounts did you get off of msrp?

ya, they are idiots. I cpo'd a trade in sls not to long ago. Owner didnt want it after driving 500miles and realizing its a race car. New owner loves it though.

Thanks for the CPO info guys I didn't think that I was crazy.

I read the British MB online interactive manual tonite and are the motor break-in requirements the same on this side of the Atlantic: Max 85mph, 4500rpm and 75% rpm level per gear... then vary the speed and no race-launching for the first 1,000 miles?

Not sure if it's on your car, but on mine, there's a sticker on the top left windshield in both German and English that states what breakin for first 1000 miles is all about. I can get you the details but yes, basically says for the first 1000 miles don't go crazy!

You also asked if I bought new...nope, bought with 1100 miles on the car and still offered extended warranty.

break-in is just a precaution. You'd much rather have the engine fail under warranty then outside. Dont be so scared guys. Drive it like you stole it.
