Key requires new battery

Or something like that said my dash. How annoying! Anyways I was passing the dealer and felt like wasting money. $8.91 later I was on my way...

At the same dealer today I received a complimentary battery with my "Service A". Sorry.

Did mine myself. Didn't use this exact video, but it's easy to do yourself.

my key fob's seem to always be dying. I purchased a whole bunch of batteries and just change it myself. Its quite easy.

Do you leave key in the car often?

The key fob batteries don't last very long in any of my MB's. I am constantly replacing the one in my wife's GL and GLE, I am convinced that when she throws it in her purse a button is getting depressed or something. The dealer parts guy told me that the batteries don't last as long in vehicles with keyless go because they are always drawing power while the car communicates back and forth with the key fob, not sure if I buy into that but I suppose it makes sense.

Apparently, if the key is within a certain perimeter of the car, the car and key fob communicate to each other and then the power is drawn, maybe look into where the key fob is being stored , or if left in the vehicle this will also draw power.
