Brabus faaaags are cut from the same thread as dingbat bimbos who go out and buy overpriced "even Wal Mart has more taste than to carry this" crappy products like "Juicy Couture." I have yet to see a guy driving Brabus who wasn't some version of a titsuuucking mommy's boy. JK

After seeing the head-on crash test between the S-class versus the Smart, I can honestly say that the Smart is probably one of the safest cars you could buy, despite its size or feeling "dangerous"

Suv
The only difference between an SUV and an S Class is that the typical SUV folds like origami, decapitating the passengers in a collision.
It must be strange for BrabusS55AMG to know that smart and Brabus have a joint venture, and that every smart is available in a Brabus version straight from the Brabus factory in Bottrop :p Also, AMG is pronounced this way in German: Ahh Emm Gay

Who do you honestly think would walk away from an accident- me in my Yukon XL- or you in your Smart Car? Me in my S55- or you in your smart car? The smart car really isn't that "safe" considering everything on the road can run over it

As much as this argument is like, "who would win, dracula or wolfman..."
Technically the driver of the smart would win, not the driver of the Brabus S55 or the Denali. The hypothetical accident could never happen, though, because the smart driver is the only driver who is actually old enough to drive...

I'm still very impressed by how well the occupant space was maintained even against an S-class which weighed more than double. However, because of the mass difference, there are still going to be much stronger decelleration forces in the smaller car which could be fatal even if the occupant space is maintained.
In the S-class versus Smart video I'd be interested to see what the load was on the dummies in the Smart and in the S. |

Hey guys first of all the video shown earlier is of an E class versus a smart. E320 to be exact. On top of that I would not be caught dead in a Smart car. Looks too dangerous. Or actually if I were to drive a smart car and get hit by an suv or truck, Id probably be dead so in that case yeah you would catch me dead in it. But I would never even want to try one. I would rather drive a toyota prius. It's faster safer, just as economical and environment friendly and probably more reliable. Sorry guys I think benz really messed up by even making this vehicle. That also includes he upcoming A and B classes.

I like the idea of the Smart but that's it. I spend a lot of time in Madrid and there are hundreds of them, great for a city with relatively low speeds. Then you see a Brabus Smart tearing down the motorway/freeway at 100mph and they all of a sudden seem the most unsafe vehicle to be in.
I certainly would not like to be involved in a head on in one at any decent speeds, bye bye legs and all that.

Check out the crash test (yes, with instrumented dummies) of a 62 MPH head on offset between a fortwo and a new W211 Benz E Class on the smart Canada website. BOTH cars' occupants would walk away. You can believe what you want, but the facts are more impressive than primitive superstitions. About deceleration, suffice it to sy that the smart treats its occupants as though the car weighs about 1500 kg instead of half that, owing to the extra-large internal deceleration zones and progressively deformable steel seat shells. My smart is taller than your S Class, so if you t-boned me, your bumper would pound one of the wheels and the car's double floor. The smart fortwo's seats are about 12 inches higher than those of a regular car. The fortwo's crash rating at EuroNCAP.com is better than that of the W202 C-Class. And I got 66.2 MPG US on my last tank of fuel. :p |

lol, I've seen dozens of Smart cars driving around, and I've always had this vision of myself running full speed towards it and tipping it over :p
Of course I'll never do that, but it's hilarious just thinking about it

Caddy
Funny, I sometimes think of doing the same to arrogant snobs in Benzes with a 1959 Cadillac....
Anywho, 68.6 US MPG on the last tank. Top was down most of the time. Put that in your tailpipe and smoke it

SMART in S FL...
earlier this week, i was surprised to see a SMART, dressed in advertising for what i thought was some local contractor, pull up beside me on palmetto, headed east, toward the intracoastal bridge.
although i expect at some point to get a G and then a replacement for my CLK, i'd definitely consider a hot-rodded SMART for tooling around, if i could be convinced of safety and if it was not unreasonably priced. speaking of price, what's the general range in canada? |

The SMART is a really good car for what it is. But thankfully, we have BrabusS55AMG's intelligent commentary to keep us informed.
I would buy one for a 2nd car to go to work in or screw around in. Then I could have room for my 2 bikes, the SMART, and a sports car (Noble) in my garge. People are putting 180hp motorcycle engines in them, and they handle pretty well. And they do quite well in crashes- despite size, which isn't eveyrthing. People that have crashed w/SUVs site that they do spin around a lot, like 3 times, but not hurt and the SUV usually tips over or loses control and hits something else..

There are other models beside the fortwo, the coupe and the forfour are better looking, specially the Brabus coupe :p :

smarts are hot! and safe. there was a story about the smart for2 which got rammed by a truck - the truck driver didn't even realised it until he reached its destination - the truck carried the smart on its front bumper all the way there! but the smart driver got out completely unharmed. i'd like to see you say that about the toyota prius, which btw, doesn't save a lot of fuel in the city. which is where the smart really shines. yeah, actually, thinking of a nice for4 soon... :P

Since this thread was brought back to life, I'll contribute something. The Smart vs. S-class, and the Smart vs. truck works because the Smart car uses the other car's crumple zone for its own safety. It does pretty well. Although we can say it is a safe car because of these videos or stories... what if the other object has no crumple zone. Let's say the person in the SMART car tried to avoid a pedestrian and ended up hitting a brick wall. You think the outcome would be the same? I don't think so.
