Trannie won't shift after disconnecting battery

Reader's digest version

1) 2002 E55 sat locked up in my garage for 12 weeks
2) Had to jump start her but she ran and shifted fine
3) Battery did not charge up enough and would not start again
4) Disconnected battery and charged for a couple of hours, reconnected cables positive then neg per manual.
5) Started up and reset windows, & EPS system per manual.
6) Went for test drive and the car ran great......But won't up shift!
7) Got home, shut off motor, would not start again.
8) Discovered fluid low in battery....added distilled water, Currently on the battery charger.

Well there you have it. Is it possible for the juice in the battery to be so low that it will not operate the trannie. Or is there something I need to reset?

Thanks for your help

if you don't have enough juice the valve bodies have difficulty in operating correctly.

Well it looks like this battery is a goner. It just doesnt want to hold a charge. So where is the best/cheapest place to pick up one of this batteries?

Beside the MBZ stealer that is. I can't imagine how much they get for one of these at a dealership.

Being that it is a rather odd shape, I'm guessing I won't find one at Walmart.....

Oh well, thanks for your input.

Bill
